Have you heard about the latest video game? This one may help fight obesity in both children and adults. The game is called Dance Dance Revolution and the West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency is using it in their obesity study.
The game includes a console, dance pad and software. The dance pad is a 3-foot square metal pad with arrows pointing up, down, right and left. Players choose their tune and arrows scroll up the television to the rhythm of the music. The goal for the player is to step on the corresponding arrow on the platform.
Not only do you burn calories but the game will likely improve your cardiovascular health and eye-hand or in this case, eye-foot coordination. The home version comes with software and a plastic dance pad.
