Hello Irene,

Thanks for the comment. I forwarded your email to Family Circle and they, too, will be responding to you. Standing on your feet in the kitchen does indeed burn calories as compared to more sedentary activities such as sitting in a chair. However, walking is different in that it not only burns calories but is beneficial in terms of lowering blood pressure and heart health.

Hello. I have just join the Family Circle Walking Challenge. I did have a few question but I cannot find anywhere in the website to address it. Would you have any idea? Anyway another thing that I would like to ask you - In walking exercise routine, it is said that every steps count. But my question is, if instead of walking, does standing on your feet and being busy in the kitchen for a WHOLE DAY warrant as some sort of calories burning exercise too? I usually walk for about 30-60mins everyday and was wondering that on the day that I toiled the whole day(4-6hrs) in the kitchen is just the same as spending 60mins walking.
